Common name:Strawberry Madrone, Marina Strawber
Botanical name:Arbutus 'Marina'

The 'Marina' has gorgeous bark, with leaves that are smaller and not as glossy as Pacific Madrone. Its flowers are pink, borne in pendant clusters in the summer. The fruit is large, red and quite ornamental. The plant should be grown in sun to part shade, with little or no summer watering when established. The 'Marina' prefers good drainage. -Monterey Bay Nursery

This perennial will reach about 3' tall and has large green leaves with orange flowers that bloom in summer and fall.

Cape Rush

Chondropetalum tectorum has 3-4 ft. tall stems that shoot out in all directions from the roots. Each stem has papery bracts connected to the endes that turn from tan to dark drown, then fall off. Chondropetalum can grow in marshes, in the ground with regular watering, or in drought conditions.

This large succulent will grow 6-15' high and produces huge clusters of leaves. It produces clusters of reddish brown flowers that bloom in the summer and does well in a lot of shade with good water.

Botanical name:Berberis thunbergii 'Atropurpurea'

A thorny, deciduous shrub growing 4-6' high and as wide, Red Japanese Barberry can be contained with some light pruning. Its purplish-red leaves contrast beautifully against a dark green background.

Botanical name:Felicia amelloides

This shrubby perennial has oval leaves that are 1" in length and dark green in color. It produces a variety of bright blue 1 1/4" wide flowers almost continuously, those of which resemble daisies.

This trailing succulent will grow 12" high and spreads 2' in diameter. It produces 2" flowers that are shades of pink and purple and bloom at the end of spring.

Nepeta faassenii makes soft, gray-green, undulating mounds o 1.5 ft. high in bloom. The small leaves are attractive to cats. This perennial has lavender blue flowers in late spring, and early summer.

Dutch Iris Hybrid selection

The Dutch Iris are really hybrids of the Spanish Iris. Plant the bulbs about 4 inches deep in a sunny spot and a well-drained soil. A mulch for winter protection is a good idea.
