This ground cover/grass can reach up to 3' tall and has green leaves that are reddish/maroon at the tips. High water needs, best used along riparian or pond areas, in wet soils, or on properties with high water tables.

This garden plant is a cormous herb, and it closely resembles the gladiolus. Its summer deciduous bulb bears crenate vertical leaves to 3' tall and arching stalks of brilliant red flowers in late spring and summer. It requires sun to part shade with no summer watering.
